Koottilangadi Grama Panchayat is located approximately 6 km from Malappuram, the district headquarters. The Panchayat is bounded by the Kadalundi River on the north, south, and west, and by Anakkayam and Makkaraparamba Grama Panchayats on the eastern side.
A major portion of the Panchayat consists of hills, hillocks, slopes, and undulating terrain. Geographically, the region can be classified as part of the midland region of Kerala and has traditionally been a stronghold of agriculture.
The village encompasses the fertile and water-rich banks of the Kadalundi River, offering a landscape where development and nature coexist harmoniously. The area is environmentally rich and naturally scenic, adorned with diverse vegetation, flowering plants, and lush greenery.
The interior regions, characterised by small hill ranges, support a variety of plant and animal life, adding to the natural beauty and ecological richness of the Panchayat. While urbanisation and modern development continue to bring new growth to the region, timely initiatives by the elected representatives and the public—including organised waste-management and disposal activities—help minimise the negative environmental impacts associated with such development.
Although Koottilangadi Grama Panchayat is relatively small in geographical area, its different regions possess their own distinctive characteristics. Each sector complements the others, and together they move forward towards common development goals with a spirit of unity, sustainability, and inclusive growth.
